• Allegheny County judge approves Quaker Valley area fire department merger (newsbreak.com) — Bell Acres' volunteer fire department is officially merging with Leet and Leetsdale to form the new Quaker Valley Fire District, with operational changes targeted for October 1. The Bell Acres–based Big Sewickley Creek station will anchor the unified department, which will cover about 4,300 residents while local officials finalize new fire service agreements and long-term funding details.
