$250K Grant Awarded For Bensalem Township Community Park Upgrades

Work includes the construction of pedestrian walkways, stormwater management measures, shade structures and landscaping.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The township is getting a $250,000 DCNR grant to further develop Bensalem Township Community Park.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources recently announced the recipients of this year's community conservation partnerships program grants through state and federal funding sources.

Bensalem Township will receive the grant for work at the park, including the construction of pedestrian walkways, splash pad and stormwater management measures, the installation of shade structures and utilities, ADA access, landscaping, project signs and other related site improvements, the DCNR press release states.

Funding sources include: the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, the Environmental Stewardship Fund, the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Pennsylvania Recreational Trails Program Fund, the Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program and the Snowmobile Management Restricted Account Fund.

Some projects are also funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act, made available to DCNR through the state fiscal year 22-23 budget as the State Parks and Outdoor Recreation Program, the press release states.
