Bensalem Township officials said in a letter that the annual grant will provide relief during the "economic crisis we are all experiencing."

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The checks arrived on Saturday.
In the mailbox came a letter and a $300 Homeowner Assistance Grant check.
And once again, they're providing a little bit of financial relief to some township residents who need it most to help offset rising costs from inflation and prices at the pump and grocery store.

Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo sent an Oct. 7 letter to Bensalem homeowners —naming members of the Township Council as well —that he was delivering on a budget promise to provide $300 as part of the Homeowners Assistance Grant Program.
The mayor touted Bensalem in the letter as a "proud and caring community" that has been recognized nationally as one of the 50 best places to raise a family by Fortune Magazine.

"This recognition is the result of countless individuals and groups who every day devote their talents, time, and energy to making and keeping Bensalem the place that nearly 65,000 residents have proudly chosen to make their home, raise their families, and enjoy their retirement years," the mayor said in the letter.
Senior citizens age 65 and older and disabled residents also receive an additional $150 provided they meet eligibility requirements.
Residents on two Bensalem Facebook pages said they were thankful for getting the relief.
One resident stated they thought it was great the township shares revenues generated by Parx Casino with township homeowners when other municipalities where casinos are located do not.
Township Council members Ed Kisselback, Joseph Knowles, Joseph Pilieri, Michelle Benitez, and Stacey Champion were mentioned in the letter.
"The Township Council and I are pleased that we are able to maintain the grant in the same amount as last year, and despite the economic crisis we are all experiencing, we are proud that your township property taxes did not increase and have not increased for three decades," the mayor said in the letter."
The letter concludes by telling residents if they have questions about the grant to call the Finance Department at 215-633-3620 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
