8 Bucks County Grocery Stores That Could Soon Sell Wine Under New PA Law

Under a new state law, these Bucks County grocery stores could soon sell wine.

On Wednesday, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf took what he called a "historic" step toward changing the liquor system in the state when he signed new legislation permitting grocery store wine sales.

Soon, Bucks County residents will be able to reap the benefits.

The bill, which will be in effect in 60 days, will do several things, including removing weekend and holiday restrictions and allowing grocery stores, restaurants, and hotels to sell wine.

“This law transformatively changes the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's responsibilities such that we can now move away from decades-old prohibitionist restrictions on alcohol sales and pursue meaningful improvements to access and convenience for Pennsylvania consumers," Board Member Mike Negra said in a press release.

However, not all stores will be able to sell wine, the PCLB said.

Only stores which already sell beer using a restaurant license will be permitted to sell wine.

According to Philly.com, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has identified seven locations throughout the county that will be able to sell wine when the new law takes effect. The stores include:

  • Wegmans Food Markets, Inc.; 1405 Main St., Warrington
  • Weis Markets, Inc.; 73 Old Dublin Pike, Doylestown
  • Brown's FH, LLC; 547 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills
  • Acme Markets, Inc.; 480 North Main St., Doylestown
  • Brown's BC, LLC; 2200 Bristol Road, Bensalem
  • Giant Food Stores, LLC; 4357 West Swamp Road, Doylestown
  • Giant Food Stores, LLC; 6542 Logan Square, New Hope

Additionally, an Acme market in Newtown has recently received approval to sell beer, so under the new law, they should be permitted to also sell wine.
