9-Year-Old Bensalem Girl Assaulted While In Bed: Police

Bensalem Police have charged a township man with burglary and indecent assault after he broke into the girl's home Sunday morning.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A Bensalem man has been charged with indecent assault for touching a 9-year-old girl after breaking into her home Sunday morning, police said.

Paddy Purcell, 32, of Bensalem Township was charged with criminal trespassing, burglary, and indecent assault, Detective Sgt. Glenn Vandegrift said.

Purcell was sent to Bucks County Prison on 10 percent of $1 million bail.

He said that Purcell entered the home on Thunder Circle at 1 a.m. Sunday, March 12, and started touching the girl while she was in bed.

The girl was able to get out of her room and find her father, who saw Purcell flee the home, Vandegrift said.

He said that police were able to track down Purcell in another apartment in the Townhomes at Gateway complex where he lived.

The family told police they did not know Purcell.
