BENSALEM, PA — Belmont Hills Elementary School in Bensalem has a new principal.

The Bensalem Township Board of School Directors has approved the appointment of Kelly McGowan as principal of Belmont Hills Elementary School, effective July 1. McGowan replaces Marla Zeisler, who retired on June 30 after 17 years with the district.

McGowan is entering her 26th year in public education. For most of her career, she served at the physical education teacher at Valley Elemenary School and Robert K. Shafer Middle School. From 2014-17, she served as dean of students at Valley Elementary, working with the building principal as a liaison between parents, students and faculty.

She earned a bachelor of science from Trenton State University and a master of education from The College of New Jersey and received her K-12 principal certification from California University of Pennsylvania.
