Bensalem Police Warn Of Scam From Nigeria

Police said scammers are using information to identify people applying for permits or handling other Bensalem Township business.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department is investigating several fraud attempts targeting residents and businesses.

Police said scammers are using publicly available information to identify people applying for permits or handling other township business involving fees with the Bensalem Township Building & Planning Department.

In these scams, victims then receive official-looking emails and invoices that appear to come from the Bensalem Township Building & Planning Department requesting payment.

Police said that one of the fraudulent email addresses being used is: BENSALEMPA@USA.COM. This is NOT a legitimate Bensalem Township email address.

Bensalem Police have traced the activity to Nigeria.

Residents and businesses are reminded to use caution when receiving emails requesting payment.

Anyone conducting business with the township suspicious of an email, invoice, or payment request should contact the Bensalem Township Building & Planning Department directly at 215-633-3600.
