Bensalem Social Worker Named 'Unsung Hero'
VIDEO: Watch teachers, administrators, police and others talk about the work Jacqui Owens does for students in Bensalem schools.
BENSALEM, PA — A social worker who assists teachers and other educators in Bensalem has been named an "unsung hero" by a Pennsylvania educators' group.
Jacqui Owens received the honor from the Pennsylvania State Education Assocaition's mideastern region and the Council for the Advancement of Public Schools. She was one of four people selected to represent professionals in her field.
As a social worker, Owens works in partnership with teachers and support personnel in the Bensalem Township School District to help students realize their full potential. She helps struggling students and their families "dream differently," the groups said, and helps students overcome obstacles while working with agencies and organizations to help take care of them.
