Boone Farm Author Featured Speaker At Bensalem Historical Society
Author Patricia Mervine Sunday will discuss Boone Farm, which will become the permanent home of the African American Museum of Bucks County.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The author of a new book on Boone Farm will give a presentation to the historical society on Sunday afternoon.
Patricia Mervine will give a presentation on “Boone Farm: Its People and Place in Middletown History,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the monthly meeting of the Historical Society of Bensalem Township.
Mervine wrote a book about the historic farm at 867 Newtown-Langhorne Road, which will serve as the permanent home for the African American Museum of Bucks County.

A groundbreaking was held in late November and construction recently began on the project.Construction is estimated to take about 12 months.
The 90-page book is available at Commonplace Reader Bookstore in Yardley and at the Middletown Township Municipal Building. Mervine said the book is now in its second printing.

Mervine said she also has an upcoming presentation scheduled for the Quakers of Bucks County.
Once a bustling farmhouse, the Boone Farm property is eligible to be on the National Register of Historic Places and has historical ties to the Great Migration of the 20th century, during which 6 million African Americans moved out of rural Southern states to Northern areas such as Pennsylvania in search of economic opportunity.
The historical society meeting will take place at 3211 Knights Road in Bensalem.
