Waterbury, Conn. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team picked up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory after sweeping Post University in three sets by the score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
Holy Family improves to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while Post is now 3-8 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.
Holy Family won the first set in convincing fashion by the score of 25-13. The Tigers led by as many as 12 points late in the set after a kill by senior Cara Przybylowicz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) made the score 21-9.
The Tigers increased their match lead after picking up a victory in a much closer set two. With the score tied at 16-16, Holy Family took the lead after another kill by Przybylowicz. From that point on, Holy Family recorded six straight points to lead 22-16. The Tigers clinched the set with a kill by sophomore Devyn Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion).
Holy Family went on to seal the victory with a 25-18 set three victory. The Tigers used a 9-2 run after the set was tied at 16-16.
Sophomore Sarah Ambach (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) along with Przybylowicz combined for 23 kills to lead the Holy Family attack. Ambach finished with a match-high 12 kills to go along with a .550 attack percentage. Przybylowicz tallied 11 kills with a match-best .588 attack percentage.
Freshman Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) finished with nine kills to go along with seven digs, while fellow classmate Madi Mcshane (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) led the team with 16 defensive digs. Junior Chelsea Keegan (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) led the match with 42 set assists.
For Post, Kelly Hayes led the team with eight kills, while Emily Wilman added seven kills to go along with six digs. Julia Slyaktina finished with 19 set assists and five digs.
Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 25 as the Tigers host Georgian Court University in a CACC contest. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
