New Castle, Del. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout versus a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent as the Tigers defeated Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 3-0 on the road Tuesday afternoon.
Holy Family, winners of consecutive games for the first time this season, improves to 4-9-0 overall and 4-5-0 in conference play. Goldey-Beacom is now 3-10-0 overall and 1-8-0 in CACC action.
The Holy Family offense came out firing as the Tigers outshot Goldey-Beacom, 10-4 in the first half and 20-9 for the entire game.
Senior Megan Tole (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) had five shots on goal and connected on her sixth score of the season in the 32nd minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Tole controlled a loose ball and found the back of the net after the Goldey Beacom goalkeeper misplayed it in the goal area.
The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Tigers throughout the rest of the half and late into the second half. Holy Family would go on to double its lead to 2-0 after freshman Stephanie Fischer (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) scored her second goal of the season in the 72nd minute. Fischer launched a shot and scored from 25-yards out from the middle of the field.
The Tigers tacked on one more goal in the 80th minute when freshman Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) scored her third goal of the season after knocking in a rebound shot by Tole.
Senior goalkeeper Rachel Dunkle (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) made five saves in net for the Tigers as she recorded her second straight shutout.
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 13 as the Tigers travel to face Concordia College in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 12 p.m.
