Mann Scores 29 as Tigers Defeat Concordia, 77-49

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's basketball team picked up its eighth straight victory after defeating Concordia College by the score of 77-49 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gym.
Holy Family, ranked 13th in the recent USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, improves to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The win also marked the team's eighth straight. Concordia is now 2-10 overall and 1-5 in the CACC.
Senior Erin Mann (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) finished with a game-high 29 points, just two shy of her career-high, to lead the Holy Family offense. Mann shot 9-of-17 from the field and converted 11-of-13 free throw attempts. She also tallied a game-high 11 rebounds to record her fourth double-double of the season.
Senior Molly Hanlon (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) and junior Mary Ellen McCollum (Abington, Pa./St. Basil Academy) each scored seven points for the Tigers. Junior Katie Duma (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) added seven points and five rebounds off the bench, while freshman Kasey Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) contributed a season-best six points.
For Concordia, senior Krystina Agard led the Clippers with 13 points to go along with eight rebounds. Junior Victoria Jones contributed seven points and had a team-high ten rebounds.
Both teams started out slow offensively as the Tigers missed their first 12 shots of the game to allow the Clippers to take a 7-1 lead the first five-plus minutes of the half. However, Holy Family would go on to connect on 11-of-13 from the field to begin mounting a double-digit lead on Concordia.
The Tigers surged to a 29-13 run over the next ten minutes of action to lead 30-20 after Mann scored a layup with 5:19 left in the half.
Concordia would go on to close out the half with a 10-4 run to cut the Holy Family lead to 34-30 at halftime. Junior Tara-Ann Rock capped the scoring as she drained a three-pointer at the buzzer.
In the second half, the Holy Family offense and defense put the pressure on Concordia. The Tigers exploded out of the locker rooms to a 22-4 run to take their biggest lead thus far at 56-34. Holy Family's run to start the first half was capped by a pair of free throws by Duma at the 12:56 mark.
Holy Family would lead by as many as 28 points late in the half after freshman Erin Fenningham (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil Academy) drained a three-pointer to make the score 73-45 with 2:22 on the clock. Fenningham finished with five points on 2-of-2 shooting.
Holy Family outscored Concordia 43-19 in the second half and limited the Clippers to just 7-of-33 shooting from the field. The Holy Family defense held the Concordia offense to less than 30-percent shooting (17-63) for the game, while the Tigers shot just under 40-percent (27-69).
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 12 as the Tigers host Mercy College in a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
