Tablet Mania Part 2

Hi everyone!

Lets get started with Part 2 of our talk about tablets. Some people feel that tablets are just a fad or a gimmicky new toy. But there are many really good uses for one at home or at work. For instance, I was fortunate enough to be able to grab one of the HP Touchpads late last summer when they were going for only $150 dollars!! HP got into the tablet business and their last CEO, gone now,(thank goodness), decided that they no longer wanted to produce tablets. So they had a fire sale of epic proportions. Millions were sold at that cheap price and its a very good tablet.

I have mine docked in my kitchen where I pass thru all day long. It shows me the weather, my email and other notifications and takes up very little space. If I want to do some quick surfing or play some games I can just grab it and go. And I can use it to read books or magazines. And look up directions to my customers so I can plan my trips and appointments. I can also print from it. My daughter does quite a bit of school work on hers.

I still have a laptop and a larger gaming computer that I do the bulk of my fun and work on. Its just more comfortable not having to hold a device like the tablet when I can kick back and use my mouse. As a work tablet, you can bring your work with you wherever you go in a much slimmer profile than a notebook. Keep your notes or presentations handy or even access your home computer via remote software. But a lot of business people now use both. So I don't think they will replace a pc or laptop anytime soon. They will coexist.

You nay have heard about the Amazon Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook ereader/tablets. They are less expensive than a full blown tablet and now do many of the same functions. If you like to read, they are the best choice for books etc.

There are Apps to control your tv and dvr and even the lights and security in your home. Some of the newer tablets allow you to draw or take notes with a stylus, which is like virtual paper. A great idea.

So if you want a useful addition to have fun and work on, tablets are the hot ticket right now and they are here to stay!
