BOX SCORE

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team secured a spot in next week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament with a 4-3 victory over Chestnut Hill College Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, Holy Family improves to 7-10-0 overall and 7-5-0 in conference play, while Chestnut Hill falls to 7-10-0 overall and 7-5-0 in the CACC.  Both teams are currently tied for sixth place in the CACC standings, however with the win, the Tigers hold the head-to-head tiebreak with the Griffins.

In a game that saw a combined six goals scored in the first half, only one goal was scored in the second half, which turned out to be the most important score.

In the 71st minute, senior Megan Tole (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) gathered the ball off a deflection and then struck the ball towards the net for the score.  It marked Tole's second goal of the game and 12th of the season.

Holy Family outshot Chestnut Hill for the game, 33-12, and held the advantage on corner kicks, 6-3.

Chestnut Hill scored the game's first goal in the sixth minute after a goal by Kaelyn Pizarro.  Minutes later, Holy Family responded with back-to-back goals in the 11th and 15th minute.

Freshman Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) scored her third goal of the game after striking the ball off a rebounded shot by senior Melissa Benson (Rockledge, Pa./Little Flower) to tie the game at 1-1.  Tole would give the Tigers their first lead after scoring her first score of the game after receiving a pass from freshman Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan).

The lead would be short lived as Chestnut Hill tied the game less than a minute later as Pizarro scored her second goal of the game at the 15:13 mark.

As the half progressed, the Griffins would regain the lead with a goal by Lauren Nolte in the 39th minute to make the score 3-2.

With six plus minutes still remaining in the first half there was plenty of time for the Tigers to tie the score before half.  That's exactly what happened in the 42nd minute when Richards was awarded a penalty kick attempt.  Richards converted the penalty kick for her fifth score of the season tying the game at 3-3.

The offensive outburst would come to a halt as time expired in the half as both teams were tied at 3-3 entering the second half.

Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 25 as the Tigers host Molloy College in a non-conference regular season finale.  Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
