Tigers Drop Non-Conference Match to Adelphi, 8-1

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to Adelphi University by the score of 8-1 Saturday afternoon at the Torresdale Frankford Country Club Tennis Courts.
 
Holy Family is now 3-3 overall, while Adelphi starts its fall season with a 1-0 mark.
 
Adelphi took all three doubles competitions to lead early on in the match by the score of 3-0 entering singles play. 
 
In singles action, freshman Alina Nersesyan (Yaroslavi, Russia) picked up the Tigers' lone victory in the match as she defeated Adelphi's Michelle Gurda in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.  It marked Nersesyan's fourth victory at second singles this season and her third win in her last four matches.
 
Adelphi picked up victories at number one, three, four, five and six singles to register the 8-1 victory.
 
Holy Family is back in action tomorrow as the Tigers host Dowling College in a non-conference contest.  Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
