Tigers Seeded Fourth in Upcoming East Regional

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's basketball team knew they were heading back to the NCAA Division II Tournament for an impressive tenth straight year.  However, the team didn't know who they were playing until now.  The NCAA announced the eight-team field that will be competing in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament this coming week. 
 
Holy Family (27-2) received the fourth seed in the tournament and will be facing fifth-seeded Assumption College (22-7) from the Northeast-10 Conference.  The Tigers earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) automatic qualifying bid after winning the conference championship for the second straight year Saturday afternoon.
 
The Tigers and Greyhounds will face one another Friday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m.  Bentley University (28-1), the region's top-seed, will host this year's regional.  The Falcons will face eighth-seeded LIU Post (19-9) in the quarterfinals.  The winner of both quarterfinal matches will face each other in the semifinals.
 
The other quarterfinal matchups include No.2 Stonehill College (23-4) and No. 7 Franklin Pierce University (18-10) and No. 3 Dowling College (25-3) and No. 6 New York Tech (23-5). 
 
Holy Family is making its tenth NCAA Tournament appearance and has faced Assumption once before in the regional.  The Tigers defeated the Greyhounds in the 2008 semifinals, 73-49.  Holy Family is 10-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and have advanced to the East Region Final two of the last three years.
