Philadelphia, Pa. - Holy Family University women's basketball head coach Mark Miller is pleased to announce the signing of Yasmin Walker to the 2013-14 recruiting class.
Walker is the fourth member of next year's recruiting class as the Tigers have already signed Jill Conroy, Abby Iannotti and Jacqueline Kennedy during the early signing period.
“Yasmin is a versatile guard and brings tremendous athleticism and quickness,” said Miller. “She is an excellent defender that will be a solid offensive player that will improve as she becomes more comfortable at the college game.”
Walker is a 5'6 guard from Newark, Del. and played five years at Caravel Academy (Bear, Del.). She was a four-year starter on the varsity team and was the team's captain during her junior and senior seasons.
She was named to the Delaware Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Top Ten North Basketball team this year as well as being named a Delaware Blue Gold High School All-Star. Furthermore, Walker earned Delaware Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association All-State second team accolades. The four-year starter also helped lead the team to the Delaware State Finals for the first time in school history.
Walker has also competed on a number of AAU Club teams, including the Delaware Lady Sharks, the Philadelphia Lady Runnin Rebels and the Philadelphia Triple Threat.
In the classroom, Walker is a four-year honor student and is a member of 'Stop the R-Word', 'Spread the Word End the Word', and the 'Blue-Gold Committee.'
