Writers and Authors Young and Old

Hello!  My name is Kelley Sawyer and I own and operate a new training center for writers and authors in Bensalem, Butterfly Methodz Press.  When I first started my company in 2010 it was just for me to publish my own books and material.  I had gone the traditional route of writing query letters and seeking a publisher to like my work enough to publsih me.  No matter how sweet they were when they said it, rejection still hurt and was very hard to take.  My content was always great but most said they were not publishing my kind of material at the time. It only took a few times of feeling the gut punch of "NO" before I decided to put my dreams of writing on hold and decided to pursue some other things.  After a few years of letting my book sit, I heard the voice of reason.  I was in a business meeting when Pastor Monica Haskell said, "why would you allow someone else to tell you when the time is right to publish your book?"  It was like a super watt light bulb had gone off.  I realized I had surrendered my power to people I didn't even know.  I allowed them to determine for me when my words would be important enough to be released to the world.  NO MORE!

I started researching the ins and outs of owning a publishing company and I moved forward with my dream.  My first book was published in March 2010 and I have never looked back.  I received so many inquiries from people asking me how I did it that I decided in April 2012 to start having training classes for those who wanted to learn the business and become serious publsihed authors.

I decided that my company would be unique because I did not want anyone to have to endure their dream being rejected.  So at Butterfly Methodz Press we accept those who have a book idea and those who do not.  We specialize in small group training so that we can focus on the individual goals of our students.  We are able to really pay attention to the story behind the story.  We offer classes to children (homeschoolers during the day three times per week as well as after school programs twice a week) as well as adults.

We have been blessed to support authors in producing some amazing and authentic work.  On December 15, 2012, we released four new authors with four INCREDIBLE books.  Author Keanna Lynette wrote "Detours to Destiny", a book that talks about the paths and choices we make in life that we think are detours yet sometimes they become the path we were always meant to be on.  Author Michelle Davis-Govan wrote "Soldiers in Stilettos", a book that speaks to women and the many "battles" we fight everyday yet we must maintain our sensuality for our husbands and carry ourselves as ladies at all times.  Author Michelle Sawyer wrote "Not Like Me", an awesome children's book that talks about diversity and how we should all be friends in spite of our differences.  Lastly, Author Shaqwan Tisdale wrote a gripping book about being raped at the age of 10 and how he overcame the resulting obstacles to now live an amazing life with his wife and three children.

I am SO INCREDIBLY BLESSED because these people have entrusted their dreams to me.  I have been approached by others with very sensitive stories about rape, adoption, living in the foster care system, abuse, and other heart wrenching stories that should not be trusted with just anyone.  On the flip side I have some really funny and gripping stories like "The Magic Door" being written by one of my fourth grade students.  I LOVE WHAT I DO!

Writing cleanses the soul and changes the world!  I want to be a resource in this community where people can learn the great art of writing while being transformed into authors.  Everyone has a story to tell.  My goal is to work with you and train you until the most authentic work is produced.  It is my passion to help yours come to pass.  I look forward to hearing from you and working with you soon.
