An Amtrak train struck a person on Sunday - the second time the train service was involved in an accident in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey region in one day.

Service along SEPTA's Trenton Line was suspended until further notice after a person was struck by an Amtrak train in Bensalem in Bucks County, according to 6abc.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday near the Cornwell Heights Station, and there was no word on the victim's injuries or condition, according to the report.

Officials told NBC10 the incident occurred in the area of the 700 block of Station Avenue.

Earlier Sunday, an Amtrak train carrying more than 300 passengers and traveling at more than 100 mph plowed into a backhoe on tracks outside of Philadelphia, killing two workers operating the construction equipment.

The accident also injured at least 35 others and closed parts of the highly trafficked Northeast Corridor.
