BUCKS COUNTY, PA —It was supposed to be a night of bowling.

But for Bucks County resident Kim McConville, that bowling night proved fatal for her cousin and his son, who both were among 18 killed by a gunman in Lewiston, Maine, Wednesday night.

While the gunman is still at large, McConville on Thursday tried to track down Bill Young, her cousin, and his 14-year-old son, Aaron, who were last seen at the bowling alley.

Later in the day, police informed McConville’s family that Young and his son were among the dead.

“They’re just innocent people out for a night of bowling,” McConville told NBC News. "This was a children’s event. Who expects a shooter to go into a children’s event?”

CNN reported the manhunt for a suspect accused of killing 18 people in a bowling alley and a restaurant in Maine surpassed 24 hours Thursday evening, on a day that saw law enforcement twice converge on the suspect’s last known address for searches.

The second time authorities massed at Robert Card’s residence in Bowdoin on Thursday brought tense moments in the evening, as law enforcement officials surrounded the home and one officer could be heard saying “Come out with your hands up,” CNN stated.

McConville told NBC News that it was difficult to get information.

“It’s total chaos. People aren’t getting any of the information they need,” she said. “They’re not telling them any more than we’re getting off a news conference.”

McConville said family members had been to the hospital and the reunification center with no luck, and Young’s cellphone indicated that it was at the bowling alley. They called multiple times with no response.
