Bucks Co. War Hero Receiving Military Hall Of Fame Honors

Ceremonies in Bensalem Tuesday and Newtown Saturday will honor Vietnam War veteran David A. Christian.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Bucks County Vietnam War hero David A. Christian is being inducted into the National Military Officers Hall of Fame, and two towns are honoring him with local ceremonies this week.

Christian, who grew up in Levittown, was recently inducted into the National Military Hall of Fame for service in the Vietnam War that earned him seven Purple Hearts, the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, the Air Medal, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and two Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry.

But before that ceremony at West Point, Christian will receive recognition at ceremonies in Bensalem Township and Newtown.

The first "Hero's Welcome Home" is at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Bensalem Township Municipal Complex. Christian will be escorted from Philadelphia International Airport to the complex and honored in a ceremony by Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo.

"He's a well-decorated veteran who lived in Bensalem for a little while," the mayor told Patch. "I've known him for years. He has an incredible record."

The second ceremony takes place at noon Saturday at the NAC in conjunction with the celebration of Armed Forces Day. That ceremony will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the NAC's “Escape Resort” located at 120 Pheasant Run in Newtown.
