Temple Judea Reform Synagogue of Doylestown and jkidphilly will host a Hanukkah event and ceremonial menorah lighting for the Jewish community of Bucks County on Sunday, December 18, the first night of Hanukkah, from 1-3 p.m. at the corner of State and Hamilton Streets in Doylestown. The event is for all ages and will feature singing and dancing with Rabbi Sigal Brier and Dan Khan, cookie decorating, goodie bags, a raffle basket and refreshments.
In lieu of a traditional menorah lighting with candles or lights, children will be decorating flame hats and will line up to form a menorah for the celebration. There will also be a large dreidel placed at the corner of State and Hamilton Streets to commemorate Hanukkah. “We love gathering around the giant sevivon (dreidel) to sing, dance and have doughnuts, said Rabbi Sigal Brier. It is always great fun for people of all ages."
Temple Judea has also announced the start of its Judaica sale fundraiser taking place from November 11 to December 2. Judaica items for Hanukkah will be available for purchase via the Art of the Gift website https://artofthegift.square.site/shop/35 and can be picked up at Temple Judea on December 16. It’s a great time to start Hanukkah shopping for religious school teachers, grandparents, and other loved ones. Those who need to make other arrangements for pick up or delivery should email caring@artofthegift.com or call 267-406-0806. Proceeds from the sale will help to fund Temple Judea’s programs and services in the community.
