Cell Phones Banned During Classes At Bensalem High

The Bensalem Township School District said high schoolers must put cell phones away in classrooms this year. School started on Monday.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Students starting the new school year at Bensalem High School did not have a familiar friend with them in classes on Monday —their cell phones.

The Bensalem Township School District has banned cell phone use during classes for Bensalem High School students for the 2024-2025 school year.

School Board Director Stephanie Ferrandez posted about the new policy per the high school principal with the start of school on Monday.

The cell phones cannot be used or visible during classes, school officials said.

High school students can use their cell phones in hallways and the cafeteria.

In the event of an emergency, students can have their phones with them. The phones need to be put away in their backpacks or purses.

Also, once picture IDs arrive in late September, all students are permitted to wear their IDs or carry them with them at all times.
