Cornwells Teachers to Participate in Ronald McDonald House Telethon

Teachers from Cornwells Elementary School will appear on CBS during a telethon for Ronald McDonald House.

Because of the generous donations made by the Cornwells Elementary School community to the Ronald McDonald House through the "Remembering Georgiana" organziation, Cornwells teachers have been invited to participate in a live telethon on CBS.

Cornwells is the first elementary school to participate in the Ronald McDonald House telethon, according to a release from Bensalem Township School District, which will take place on Wednesday, March 27 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"Remembering Georgiana" is an organization in memory of Georgiana Antonopolous, who was a second grader at the elementary school when she died of lymphoma and leukemia on Nov. 26, 2000, according to the release.

"She was a special little girl whose smile and optimism lit up a room," the release said.

The Georgiana Committee holds many fundraisers, such as the Jump-a-thon, a walk-a-thon, the Spring Fling and more. Additionally, the members cook for the families and children staying at St. Christopher's Ronald McDonald House on the first Tuesday of every month.

Because of the group's work with and donations to the Ronald McDonald House, several current and former Cornwells teachers including Jennifer Dezure, Amanda Blazic, Maryanne Gutknecht, Lisa Flaherty and Chris Heine will be interviewed on CBS during the telethon.

"The Georgiana Committee members are super excited and are delighted to share this great news with the staff and families who have been so generous!" the release said.
