Slain Bensalem Police Officer Remembered
The Bucks County District Attorney's Office has honored the memory of a Bensalem police officer killed over 50 years ago.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is remembering a police officer who was killed in the line of duty over 50 years ago.
The agency on Wednesday honored the memory of Bensalem Township Police Officer James Kenneth Armstrong, who was killed in the line of duty on April 15, 1975.
Armstrong was a dedicated public servant and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served his country in Vietnam before returning home to protect his community.

On that fateful day, Officer Armstrong was shot and killed while conducting a felony traffic stop of an armed robbery suspect.
His K9 partner was also seriously wounded but survived the attack.

The suspect fled to Philadelphia, where he was arrested three weeks later. He was convicted of murdering Armstrong and sentenced to life in prison.
"Officer Armstrong was only 28 years old," the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said. "His legacy of service, sacrifice, and spirit continues to inspire the men and women who wear the badge today. We will never forget."
