Do You Miss These Restaurants From Childhood?

We asked Bensalem Patch followers which restaurants that are now gone you loved as a child. You had plenty of thoughts.

BENSALEM, PA — Last week, we asked Bensalem Patch followers on Facebook which restaurants from their childhoods they missed the most. And ... well ... you had plenty of thoughts.

In all, 66 Bensalem folks responded with their memories of eating out as a kid and the spots they remember fondly that are no longer around any more. Here's a look at some of the dearly departed restaurants that got the most love:

  • Ponderosa. The steakhouse chain was started in 1965, in Indiana, before headquarters were moved to Dayton, Ohio. In 1997, the chain merged with the Bonanza Steakhouse chain founded by Dan Blocker, who played "Hoss" Cartwright on the TV show of the same name.
  • Roy Rogers. There are still 54 Roy Rogers restaurants around, but these days, the closest location is probably the one in Trenton.
  • Cafe Riviera. Several of you said you miss this spot at Neshaminy Mall. One of our followers says the folks behind it now run Luberto's Brick Oven Pizza in Dublin, if you're up for a bit of a drive.
  • Shoney's. Some of you fondly remember the location where Michael's Family Restaurant & Diner is now located on Street Road.

Other restaurants that got some love in the comments of our post included CokeAJoe's, Flannery's Constellation Lounge and Po' Folks.
