Dog Dies In Fire That Causes Smoke Damage To Bensalem Home: FD

Bensalem Fire Rescue said the fire on Barnsleigh Drive was deemed accidental. Fire officials said the home suffered heavy damage.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —A family dog perished in a fire that caused heavy smoke damage to a two-story township home Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.

Bensalem Fire Police said just after noon Thursday, fire crews were dispatched to a home on the 2400 block of Barnsleigh Drive for a report of a fire.

Fire crews reported heavy fire conditions on the first floor with high heat and smoke conditions on the second floor and requested additional waterlines and the roof to be opened. The fire was placed under control shortly after 12:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported but a family dog perished in the fire., fire officials said.

Fire investigators with Bensalem Township Fire Rescue determined the fire originated on the home's exterior. The cause was classified as accidental.

Utility 222 arrived on the scene and reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the two-story single-family home.

Engine 222 arrived shortly thereafter and took the first in engine company assignment (established a water supply and went in-service with an 1.5” waterline). Battalion 222 assumed Bensalem Command and Ladder 65 took the first ladder company assignment.

Tower 8, Engine 88, Squirt 44, Engine 7, Rescue 8, and Ladder 6 were all on the scene and placed in service.
