Drone Police Unit Doubles In Bensalem

Bensalem Police are using drone technology more to assist in emergency efforts.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department has doubled the size of its drone unit.

The Bensalem Township Police Department and Department of Public Safety said that John Monaghan from JRM Drone Service and a UAV Coach trained 12 of the department's newest drone pilots.

Authorities said that drone technology is rapidly changing the way law enforcement serves the community, and Bensalem is staying ahead of the curve.

"With these new pilots, we’ve officially doubled the size of our drone unit to better support our officers and respond more efficiently to calls," Bensalem Police said.

The police department has also launched its Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, which allows drones to be deployed immediately to incidents—often arriving before officers—to provide real-time information and enhance public safety.
