Gala Celebrates 100 Years Of Bensalem High School

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —It was a gala for the ages.

And, in this case, it was celebrating an age: the 100th anniversary of Bensalem High School.

The Bensalem Township School District recently held a gala at Celebrations Wedding Venue attended by high school alumni, local dignitaries, and anyone who may have worn their dancing shoes.

"We had a wonderful time celebrating Bensalem High School's 100th Anniversary," the school district said in a Facebook post. "Thank you to everyone who attended and made the night spectacular."

What started as a one-room school building 200 years ago known as the Cornwells School, Bensalem High School blossomed over the years to become one of the largest high schools in Bucks County.

The Bensalem High School of today was assembled in 1923, with the first class of five students graduating in 1925.

"What an amazing turnout for the Bensalem High School 100th Anniversary Gala," U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick said. "Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Bensalem High School’s rich history of accomplishments throughout the century, and congratulations on 100 years."

The school district thanked Celebrations "who worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect."

Music for the dancing was provided by Sean M. Givnish DJ Services.
