March has seen a steady decline in gas prices to the point that gas is cheaper now than this time last year, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
In Pennsylvania, today’s average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.673 per gallon down 2.5 cents from a week ago, down 11.8 cents from a month ago and 20.9 cents lower than a year ago, according to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report.
In the Philadelphia market, the trend is similar. The average price for regular unleaded is $3.651 per gallon which is down 2.6 cents from a week ago, 12.8 cents lower than a month ago and 19.7 cents lower than a year ago.

It is still too soon to say whether retail prices have already peaked for the spring, according to AAA, because there is still refinery maintenance to be completed and much of the country has yet to transition to summer-blend gasoline. However, with the national average falling further below the year-ago price, AAA continues to predict that the national average will crest lower than recent years.
Locally, the cheapest price for gas is $3.50 at Sunoco at 2700 Knights Rd.
