Lanes On I-95 In Bensalem To Be Restricted Next Week For Bridge Inspections

Several lane restrictions are scheduled next week in Bensalem for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday. Bridge inspections will also impact Philadelphia roadways.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• Tuesday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on southbound I-95 near Woodhaven Road (Exit 36) in Bensalem Township, Bucks County;
• Tuesday, July 12, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on northbound I-95 near Woodhaven Road (Exit 36) in Bensalem Township, Bucks County;
• Tuesday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled to close on southbound I-95 between Academy Road (Exit 32) and Cottman Avenue (Exit 30) in Philadelphia;
• Tuesday, July 12, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on eastbound Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between Bartram Avenue and 26th Street in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, July 14, and Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on eastbound Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between Bartram Avenue and 26th Street in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, July 14, through Saturday, July 16, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on eastbound Grays Ferry Avenue between Paschall Avenue and 34th Street in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, July 14, through Saturday, July 16, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled to close on northbound I-95 between Island Avenue and Girard Point Bridge;
• Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on northbound I-95 between Island Avenue and Girard Point Bridge in Philadelphia;
• Saturday, July 16, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on northbound I-95 between Island Avenue and Girard Point Bridge in Philadelphia; and
• Saturday, July 16, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the right lane is scheduled to close on eastbound Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between Bartram Avenue and 26th Street in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the inspections are taking place.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT’s program to inspect state bridges at least once every two years. The inspection ensures the safety and overall condition of the structure, officials said.
