For the past 48 years, the Livengrin Foundation for Addiction Recovery has empowered and encouraged those who are battling addiction and helped save many lives. These have been the lives of mothers and father, sisters and brothers, friends and loved ones. On Thursday, October 30 the Livengrin Foundation celebrated its 48th anniversary with a gala at Northampton Valley Country Club. The event featured special guest former U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, speaking about his support for our nation’s first responders.
Proceeds from the foundation’s 48th anniversary celebration directly benefited Livengrin’s First Responders Addiction Treatment program (FRAT). Addiction can affect individuals of all job types and in any environment. First responders are tasked with handling the most stressful situations in the modern world and FRAT is designed to help those that put their lives on the line for others. The program reaches out to police, firefighters, emergency personnel and combat veterans to give them the support they need and deserve as they battle addiction.

Each month, 12 to 15 Iraq and Afghanistan war combat veterans come to the door of the Livengrin Foundation seeking addiction treatment, but have no health insurance. Patient charity care enables Livengrin to treat veterans and first responders that need help on the road to recovery. FRAT is run not only by trained clinical therapists, but by active and retired first responders with background in peer support and counseling, employee assistance and crisis intervention. The program offers many options including outpatient services, residential treatment, family support groups and return to work services.
Charitable events like the 48th Anniversary Celebration keep Livengrin able to assist our loved ones, heroes and those in need with their battle against addiction.
