Restaurant Closes Less Than a Year After Opening

Less than a year since its opening , Pookie’s restaurant in the Village Center on Bristol Road has closed.

Pookie’s opened in late November 2011 as a breakfast and lunch eatery and in recent months expanded its menu to include dinners.

Today, the door is locked and a real estate sign on a chair inside greets visitors.

Kent Boyer, who owns Pookie’s and the entire shopping center, could not be reached for comment at the center or at home. An employee of another business in the center said Pookie’s closed about a month ago.

Boyer, who grew up in Levittown, said last fall that he was running his first restaurant with son Nick, daughter Jennifer and their mom, Evelyn.

"It's really for the kids," the 56 year old said atthe time.

He had gutted a bagel shop in creating the restaurant.

Boyer also owns the laundromat in the center and acknowledged last fall that the restaurant business is tougher.
