All Lanes, Ramps Now Open After Major PA Turnpike Crash
The crash caused major delays Tuesday morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Bensalem.

A major crash that shut the Pennsylvania Turnpike for hours Tuesday in Bensalem, Bucks County has been fully cleared, officials confirmed just before 10 a.m.
The crash, which happened before 6 a.m. in between the Bensalem and Willow Grove exits near milepost 351, caused major delays after eight miles of the highway were completely closed for more than three hours.
Around 9 a.m., officials with the PA Turnpike announced some lanes were reopening, and cars have begun getting by the scene. Just before 10 a.m., officials said it had been fully cleared.

The crash involved three tractor trailer trucks as well as a passenger vehicle, and it resulted in a fuel spill that closed eight miles of the highway, NBC10 reports. Two people were hurt, although the severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m., and more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled as a result, Pennsylvania State Police told the network. "Plan X" — a complete shutdown of certain sections of the highway in emergency situations — was implemented.

Meanwhile, the crash and subsequent closures caused gridlock on roads throughout the region, with residents reporting excessive commute times and traffic jams.
