March Happenings in Bucks County
Gear up for Spring with this list of fun events happening this month in Bucks County, PA!
It may still feel like winter, but spring is right around the corner and Bucks County is sure to cure your cabin fever. From an inside look at a gorgeous Mediterranean villa to festive spring events filled with flowers, Bucks County has all you need to gear up for warmer weather and more sunshine.
· March 1 – Join the experts at Churchville Nature Center for a unique look into how maple syrup is made during their Maple Sugar Day. Learn the age-old process, handed down by the Native Americans who originally settled this land, including the collection of the sap and the steps to make it into syrup.
· March 1 – Get the first, inside look at this year’s Bucks County Designer House, Villa d’Braccia, during an Empty House Party. Enjoy music, light fare, olive oil, wine, craft beer and more, sponsored by VIA of Doylestown, while you meet the designers and get insight to their renovation plans. Villa d’Braccia is a beautiful Mediterranean-styled villa set on four acres of land, chosen because of its superior craftsmanship and its workability for the designers. · March 7 – Treat your favorite “little one” to a day on the town at the Mercer Museum as part of their 20th Annual Dolls’ Day Out. Dress in your best and bring your doll to the museum to partake in tasty tea, watch a doll fashion show, try your hand at the make-a-doll craft station and more! Be sure to save time to walk through the museum and enjoy all of the kid-friendly exhibits on-site.
· March 7 – Step back in time with the Newtown Historic Association at their headquarters, the Half Moon Inn, for their 13th Annual Tavern Night. Sip on 18th-century style ale, listen and dance to period music and enjoy delicious food, catered by Joseph Garvey of Joseph’s Garden Grille. Take something home with you during the Silent Auction, all proceeds will benefit the Association in support of its various projects.

· March 8 – Celebrate the birth of Pennsylvania at Pennsbury Manor with a FREE Charter Day event. Watch demonstrations of colonial crafts throughout the Manor’s grounds, take a tour of William Penn’s former home and more. While the event itself is free, Pennsbury Manor is hosting a food drive and asks guests to bring along a non-perishable food item to donate.
· March 8 – Spend an afternoon inside the palatial Sand Castle Winery with the Winemaster himself, Joseph Maxian, and Executive Chef of The Red Cedar Grille, Theos Charitos, during a Winemaker’s Dinner. Experiences a seven-course dinner, each dish paired perfectly with a selection of Sand Castle’s exceptional wines.
· March 14 – Interested in the history behind the James-Lorah Memorial Home? Learn “All About the James-Lorah House” from the woman who wrote the book on it, Kathryn McKenna, at the Doylestown Bookshop. This historic home, built around 1844, is a two-and-a-half story townhouse in Doylestown and the current home of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown. Mckenna, along with the Doylestown Historical Society, will be answering questions and more during this presentation.
· March 15 – Get a jump on your spring fashion with the “Fashionably Pearl” Fashion Show happening this March at the Pearl S. Buck House and Historic Site. Enjoy beautiful designs presented by the Franconia Family Heritage Gift Shop as well as afternoon refreshments in the Cultural Center. Take home your favorites, all proceeds benefit the Pearl S. Buck Volunteer Association in support of the legacy and mission of Pearl S. Buck International.
· March 16-April 17 – Spring blooms this March and April at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem during the 2nd Annual Bucks County GardenFest! Browse beautiful shadowbox displays decorated by local nature centers, parks, gardens and attractions. Mark your calendars for March 22 to participate in educational seminars and workshops from Bucks County’s garden experts.
· March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! It’s time to dress in your most festive green and celebrate your Irish side - whether you have one or not! From downtown festivals and parades to dinners and concerts, Bucks County offers a variety of events for people of all ages. · March 18-April 12 – Described by Time magazine as “a triumph for the stage,” you won’t want to miss a performance of Tony Award-winning musical “Ragtime” in the cozy Bristol Riverside Theatre. This extraordinary tale of three families confronting America’s timeless contradictions of freedom and prejudice, wealth and poverty, hope and despair will have you on the edge of your seat throughout the show.
· March 18 – What better way to celebrate the start of spring than with the perfect combination of wine and flowers? Head to Crossing Vineyards and Winery for their fun Wine and Flower Arranging workshop. Admission gets you a tasting of Crossing Vineyard’s best wines, floral materials and step-by-step instruction. Find your new favorite spring wine and take home a beautiful floral arrangement!
· March 18-March 21 – Beat the winter blues at Moland House with their Cabin Fever Craft Show, just in time for the start of spring. More than 50 talented local crafters will be displaying their work in this historic home where General George Washington once quartered during the Revolutionary War. Browse pottery, floral arrangements, primitive items, candy and treats, outdoor garden decorations and more to find something you like to take home with you!
· March 26 – Join the Women in Business Committee from the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce at the Spring Mill Country Club this month for the 22nd Annual Gourmet Getaway, an evening of food and fun. The theme this year is A Delicious Night at the Theatre, and guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening filled with entertainers from the Bucks County Playhouse, complimentary food and drinks from local restaurants and caterers, a raffle and more.
· March 28 – Noah Preminger, a Brooklyn-based saxophonist will join an all-star rhythm section for Jazz Night at the James A. Michener Art Museum. Book your table to enjoy an hors d’oeuvre reception, open galleries throughout the museum and an evening of soulful jazz music.
