Mosquito Spraying To Deter West Nile Virus In Lower Bucks
The Bucks County Department of Health will spray in Bensalem and Falls townships on Monday.
LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The Bucks County Department of Health has announced that mosquito spraying will take place Monday in two townships under its West Nile Virus Mosquito Control Program.
County health officials will conduct an ultra-low volume (ULV) mosquito control operation to reduce high populations of nuisance mosquitoes and mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus in Falls and Bensalem townships.
The treatment will be administered via truck-mounted equipment, spraying mosquito habitats in residential and park locations.

Trucks used in the spray are identified with Bucks County seal logos located on the doors.
The equipment dispenses Duet at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre. The product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application materials have a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.

Falls Township
- Treatments will occur in Falls Township areas bounded by Trenton Rd., Tyburn Rd., New Falls Rd., Village Ln., Village Turn, Unity Dr., Hanford Rd., S. Olds Blvd., and S. Queen Anne Dr.
Bensalem Township
- Treatments will occur in Bensalem Township areas bounded by Atlantic Ave., Dunksferry Rd., Brown Ave., and Hulmeville Rd.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all residents in areas where virus activity has been identified are at risk of contracting West Nile encephalitis.
Weather conditions and other unexpected events could delay or cancel this spray operation.
If conditions do not allow application on Monday, the spraying will be rescheduled to Tuesday.
