Owls Come Up Short Against Lower Merion 45-44
The Owls and Lower Merion went back and forth all night but in the end, it was the Aces who made fewer mistakes.
In what could possibly be the last game the Bensalem Owls play at Neil Armstrong Middle School, the No. 9 Owls continued with their “never give up” attitude they they have had all season but fell just short to No. 13 Lower Merion on Tuesday night 45-44.
The Owls were in it until the very end and had a chance to tie the game with just under four seconds to go as the Aces fouled center Calvin Brown, sending him to the line to shoot two. As Brown made the first free throw, the crowd erupted and the Aces spent their final timeout. Brown, who finished the night with seven points and three blocked shots, missed the second shot and the Owls were unable to but the ball back in as time expired.
Despite having a one point lead at halftime, it was back and forth all night. Neither team was able to get a run going thanks to strong defense and sometimes poor shot selection. The Owls were in it until the end, but they made a few mistakes throughout the night and even their hard work and hustle could not help them in the end, as they suffered their second straight loss in what has been their best season since 1991. It was their failure to finish plays, that caused the Owls to come up just short.

“I thought we had a very good effort but we played sloppy. We missed something like 10 layups and in the end that can cost you,” Owls coach John Mullin said after the loss.
The Owls were led on the score sheet by shooting guard, Leo Vincent who had 15 points and a hand full of rebounds on the night. Vincent had his long distance shot working for him as he was one for two from beyond the arc and hit several long range jumpers as well.

The loss put the Owls at 19-7 on the year as they now prepare to play W.C. Rustin, in one of the District One's consolation games.
“If they can give me this effort each game, I will take it as far as we can go,” Mullin added.
