Approved last month, Parx, in Bensalem, will start up a temporary sports book in the mean time, officials said on Friday.

BENSALEM, PA — With sports betting now legalized in Pennsylvania, Parx Casino in Bensalem has announced plans for a $10 million expansion to add a sports book.

The expansion, announced Friday, is slated to open in 2019. Once open, it will give gamblers access to a state-of-the-art facility at which to place their sports wagers. In the mean time, the casino has plans to start up a temporary sports book in the space formerly occupied by the 360 bar.

The opening date for the temporary sports book is pending approval by the state gambling commission, Parx said Friday. Sports betting also will be available at Parx Turf Clubs in south Philadelphia and at a soon-to-open Parx Casino in Valley Forge.
