Philly Cargo Company Moving To Bensalem Township
Shax Express Cargo will build an office along with parking for its tractor-trailers, establishing its headquarters in Bensalem.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Shax was back and they're planning on setting up shop in the township for good this time around.
Four months after being told the township would not serve as a "parking lot for tractor-trailers," Bensalem Township Council gave unanimous preliminary and final land development to Shax Express Cargo after the company decided it would move to Bensalem from Philadelphia.
Shax revised its plans after appearing before the council in late April when it pitched a plan for a 48-space parking lot for its big rigs on a 2.75-acre parking lot at Winks and Marshall lanes to allow its drivers to park their vehicles overnight for its fleet of 30 tractors and 35 trailers.

But Bensalem Council balked at the request with Vice President Joseph Pilieri raising objections to put a stop to the project.
Shax representatives returned to the Bensalem Township Council at its meeting last week, presenting revised plans for 7,200 square feet of which 2,400 square feet would be for an office.

There would also be 31 parking spaces for tractor-trailers and 14 employees.
The "entirety of business operations" would be located in Bensalem as the new plans expedite the company's move from Philadelphia.
"I would just like to thank the applicant for listening to the council and agreeing to put the building there and not being just a trailer facility," Pilieri said. "It took a lot of effort to do that and we appreciate you taking that into consideration and getting it done so this is a full-fledged business."
"You have been very cooperative with all of us," Council President Edward Kisselback said. "Everyone should be the same as your company."
Shax has been in operation since 2018. The logistics and transportation company runs loads with its tractor-trailers across the continental United States and currently has been operating a facility at 100 Frankin Mills Circle behind Sam's Club.
"The business is not in Bensalem," Pilieri said. "The business is in Philadelphia, and that's where it's staying," Pilieri said when Shax first made its proposal. "It's not bringing any extra jobs to Bensalem, and it's not bringing any extra income to Bensalem. There's no benefit for Bensalem. Why do we need another parking lot?"
