Radisson Hotel Off Auction Block In Bensalem Township

Bensalem's mayor said he hopes the hotel's owners will renovate the 8-acre property that was built in 1974.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Radisson Hotel Philadelphia Northeast is off the auction block.

The 275-room Radisson Hotel Philadelphia Northeast, at 2400 Old Lincoln Highway in the Trevose section of Bensalem Township, was supposed to go to bid at an April auction, but the hotel's owner now is planning on a multimillion-dollar renovation of the 8-acre property.

TJM Properties told the Philadelphia Business Journal that it will renovate the hotel's guest rooms, restaurant, bar, and other public spaces. The journal reported the cost could be $5 million.

"We know it hasn't been auctioned," Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo said. "Hopefully, it will be renovated. It's a nice hotel. We didn't want to see it change into something else."

Parx Casino also has announced plans recently to build a hotel on the Street Road casino property.

The Parx Casino hotel is expected to feature 13 stories, have 300 guest rooms, two restaurants, and a 14,000-square-foot banquet hall for events such as weddings.

TMJ Properties did not return calls and emails from Patch seeking comment.

The six-story hotel, built in 1974, is located near the intersection of Old Lincoln Highway and Route 1, not far from the Neshaminy Mall, Parx Casino, Sesame Place, and Benjamin Rush State Park.

On its website, Clearwater, Fla., based-TMJ Properties Proud touts the Radisson as the recipient of the 2015 President’s Award and an official hotel of Sesame Place.

The company owns hotels in Syracuse, N.Y., Columbus, Ohio; and The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, according to its website. It also owns four senior living facilities.

TJM Properties President Terence McCarthy told the journal that renovation plans have just started, but will include upgrades to public spaces such as the lobby, front desk, gym, and pool area.

TJM Properties said renovations may begin in the fall with a completion date of spring 2024.
