School Director Left 'Enduring Legacy' In Bensalem Township

Heather Snyder, who died last week, was remembered with flowers and praise from colleagues during Tuesday's Bensalem school board meeting.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Bensalem Township School Board had a meeting scheduled Tuesday night, but one member was missing —one member who will never be forgotten for her impact on the school district.

As board members prepared to start the meeting with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Silent Reflection, Board President Eric Price addressed the crowd about an empty board seat.

School Director Heather Snyder, who began her tenure on the school board in 2019, died in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 18, at home with her family and cats by her side., her obituary said. She had also fill out her late husband's term on the Bensalem Township Council.

"Heather passed away recently," Price said. "She was a councilwoman, administrator, and well-respected. She will surely be missed. She was a wonderful woman who served and gave so much of her life to the children and the people here. I can't say enough about her.

At the table where school board members sit, there were flowers placed by her nameplate purchased by the school board.

Schools Superintendent Samuel Lee reflected on the "remarkable" tenure Snyder had as an educator.

“Heather Snyder was a remarkable educator, a great Board member, Councilperson and an even better person. It was a joy to work with her. She’ll be missed, but she left an incredible, enduring legacy,” Lee said.

Relatives and friends and invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Friday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Fluehr Funeral Home, 864 Bristol Pike (Rt. 13) in Bensalem Township.

The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Interment will be private, her obituary said.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Heather’s memory may be made to the Bensalem Education Foundation for the continued addition of diverse titles in Bensalem school libraries, 3000 Donallen Drive, Bensalem PA 19020.
