SEPTA, Regional Rail Engineers Reach Tentative Agreement

SEPTA and its Regional Rail locomotive engineers have reached a tentative agreement that will avert a strike, according to reports.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that under the tentative agreement, SEPTA’s Regional Rain engineers will get an 8.5 percent pay increase upon the contract’s approval and a three percent raise next April.

Last week President Barack Obama intervened in the ongoing labor dispute by creating a three-member board to mediate between SEPTA and its Regional Rail engineers.

Without the creation of this presidential emergency board, a strike could have started as soon as this week.
