State Trooper Injured, 2 Men Charged After Bensalem Vehicle Stop

Two suspects fled on foot after the stop on Bristol Pike Wednesday afternoon. Both face firearms and drug possession charges, police said.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —A Pennsylvania State Trooper was injured after a pursuit following a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Taheem Armstrong and Kevin Williams were apprehended for firearms and drug offenses after a Bensalem Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of Bristol Pike on a black Nissan Pathfinder SUV.

Police said the registration was suspended. The officer approached the vehicle and contacted the driver (Armstrong) and front seat passenger later identified as Williams.

Armstrong was found to have a DUI Suspended license and an active warrant out of Bensalem Township for Drug Delivery, entered into NCIC in May.

During the vehicle stop, (Armstrong and Williams) exited the Pathfinder and fled on foot from the vehicle.

Williams had a gray in color book bag as he fled the Police. Police set up a perimeter and tracked the suspects.

Police located the gray in color book bag in the area, the same style/color which Williams fled the car stop, on his back.

Inside the book bag contained paperwork with Kevin Williams's name, men’s underwear, toiletries, a bag of suspected heroin/fentanyl as well as a 9 mm gray/black VERSA handgun.

Police found about 30 grams of suspected heroin in the Pathfinder backseat as well as a blender and a significant amount of packaging material (blue wax bags and unused trash can-style containers).

Bensalem Police set up a perimeter assisted by Pennsylvania State Police and Amtrak Police due to the proximity of the rail lines in the area.

Law Enforcement continued to search for the suspects including a K-9 Officer and after almost three hours, authorities spotted the suspects on Route 13 near Interstate 95 in Bensalem after fleeing from Pennsylvania State Police.

State Police located and detained both Armstrong and Williams after a foot pursuit.

Both suspects resisted arrest and failed to obey commands from the Police.

During taking the subjects into custody, a State Trooper suffered an injury to his hand and head. He was treated at a local hospital and released, police said.

Both suspects were found to have suspected marijuana in their possession when detained as well.

Williams was found to have no permit to carry in NCIC and also a felony conviction on his criminal history, not permitting him to possess/control a firearm.

Armstrong, 36, of Bristol, was charged with Narcotics offenses, Resisting arrest, and other related charges along with traffic violations. He was arraigned by District Justice Hughes and bail was set at 10 percent of $200,000 and he was remanded to Bucks County Prison.

Williams, 30, of Philadelphia, was charged with a felon not allowed to possess a firearm and other Firearm-related offenses, narcotics offenses, and other related charges.
