'Student Successful Initiative' Plan Coming For Bensalem Schools
The Bensalem School District was recently awarded a $1.8 million Safer Communities grant.
BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Bensalem Township School District will use a $1,833,360 grant to create a comprehensive Student Success Initiative Plan.
School officials said the district was recently awarded a Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) Stronger Connections Grant based on a proposal seeking funds to allow for district-wide implementation of a BTSD Student Success Initiative Plan.
The plan aims to "promote and enhance a supportive and inclusive learning environment" that promotes safety, social, emotional, and mental well-being, and the success of all students and staff.

The plan will also address family and community engagement and promote inclusive, and equitable practices and policies in the district.
"Our goal is to enhance student success and well-being by implementing a comprehensive Student Success Initiative Plan that ensures equitable access to mental health supports, fosters a positive school climate, and provides intensive training for all staff in key areas such as restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, school-wide positive behavior programs, MTSS, social-emotional learning, and anti-bullying measures," school officials said.
The plan supports and scales district efforts and provides the foundation for an action plan that reflects our vision, BTSD Theory of Action, and BTSD Future Ready Comprehensive Plan to continue to support students in a myriad of ways defined through the Student Success Initiative Plan, school officials said.

The grant was secured by State Sen. Frank Farry and State Rep. Kathleen "KC" Tomlinson.
"We are grateful for the support of State Senator Frank Farry, State Rep. K. C. Tomlinson, and
our board of school directors," school officials said.
