Suit Filed Against Bensalem Twp. For Mosque Denial To Move Forward: Report

DOJ suit claims denial of the mosque's construction was religious discrimination, according to reports.

Bensalem Township's request to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice over the township's denial to build a mosque was denied by a district judge, according to Philly.com.

The outlet reports the suit is attempting to allow the Bensalem Masjid to construct a mosque in the township.

The suit was initially filed in July this year and claims the denial of the mosque's construction violates the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA), which "protects individuals, houses of worship, and other religious institutions from discrimination in zoning and landmarking laws."
