6 Things to Know About Tonight's Lehigh Game

The Mountain Hawks can make NCAA history for the second time in three days against the Xavier Musketeers tonight.

  1. As most of you probably are now aware, Lehigh was its opening round game. What you might not know is that none of the teams to accomplish this feat ever won in the next round to get to the Sweet 16. Lehigh could be the first.
  2. With a win, Lehigh would also be the first Patriot League team to get to the Sweet 16 in the league’s 20-year history. Lehigh is only the third Patriot League team to ever get this far. Bucknell made it to the Round of 32 in 2005 and 2006.
  3. Tonight’s opponent, the Xavier Musketeers, should be familiar to fans of Philadelphia’s Big Five. The Musketeers are in the Atlantic 10, a league that includes the Temple Owls, the St. Joseph’s Hawks and the LaSalle Explorers. This year, Xavier was the A-10 runner up in the league tournament.
  4. Xavier won the one previous meeting between the two teams, 69-63, in Cincinnati in 2004.
  5. Xavier’s key players are guards Tu Holloway, a senior who led the team in scoring and assists, and junior Mark Lyons; and 7-foot-tall center Kenny Frease, who led the team in rebounding.
  6. The game starts at 7:45 p.m. and airs on TruTV. That’s channel 122 on Service Electric, channel 177 on RCN and channel 246 on DirecTV.
