Daniel Tartaglione Of Pocono Mountain East High School wins 12th Annual Spring Horizons For Youth Chess Championship

Saturday, March 23, 2013 the Lehigh Valley Chess Club was closed, but not for a lack of events happening on this weekend. The 12th Annual Spring Horizons for Youth Scholastic Chess Championship held at Northampton Community College, Main Campus, 3835 Green Pond Rd, Bethlehem, Pa 18020
was attended by 70 chess players in the k-12 category. Many had just returned from PA State Championships in Carlisle, Pa earlier this month where many won top honors there. Daniel Tartaglione and Dawid Ryczek tied for first out of the 40 players who competed in the Rated Section and in the Blitz off Daniel won the final convincingly without going to an Armadgedon playoff round. This is the second time Daniel has won this tournament securing 1st place last Fall under exactly the same circumstances. Nerves of steel are necessary to finish these intensely competitive events.
    Winners in the Rated Section:

1st - Daniel Tartaglione (Swiftwater, Pa) -

2nd - Dawid Ryczek (Swiftwater, Pa) -
