An Allentown entrepreneur is hoping to make it easier for Lehigh Valley residents to get their favorite restaurant food, while helping area restaurants extend their reach.

Les Jean Baptiste has opened Dine-In Delivery, a service that picks up food from restaurants that would otherwise not offer delivery, and delivers it to homes, offices or events.

Jean Baptiste said Dine-In Delivery is actually a national company.  He is a licensee for the business in the Greater Lehigh Valley area.

Currently, he has contracts with eight restaurants ranging from Sangria on Hamilton Street in Allentown to Spice India in Whitehall. He also has three delivery drivers stationed throughout the Lehigh Valley to be strategically closer to restaurants and delivery points.

He has plans to grow the business, however, and is in the process of adding more restaurants to his service.

For a $3.50 delivery charge to the consumer and a percentage of the cost of the food, he will provide delivery for restaurants. He promotes it as a way for restaurants to create new business from customers who may not have ordered from them if delivery was not available.

He also said they get a marketing push by being included in the menu guides he is distributing at homes, businesses and hotels around the region.

Jean Baptiste said he got experience in the industry while working for a similar delivery business when he lived in St. Louis.

He did note that a similar concept, Takeout Taxi, was available in the Lehigh Valley in the early ‘90s but eventually shuttered.

He said he’s heard that much of the problems Takeout Taxi experienced was with logistics and getting food to customers while it was still hot.

He said newer technology eliminates those problems and he can give customers more reliable delivery times and food that should be as hot as it was when it left the kitchen.

Dine-In Delivery is located at 1801 Union Blvd., Allentown. More information can be obtained on the website www.205dine.com or by calling (855) 205-3463.
