PPL Corp. Makes Generous Contribution to Sustainability

Bethlehem, PA-- PPL Corporation generously donated $10,000 to Renew Lehigh Valley, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting smart growth and efficient governance throughout the Lehigh Valley.

The donation will support RenewLV’s mission to core communities, preserving open space and creating an economically and environmentally sustainable foundation for the region’s growth. RenewLV has refocused its efforts to more closely align with this mission.  They are managing public outreach and engagement for the three-year, $3.4 million project, Envision Lehigh Valley, funded through a Sustainable Communities grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Envision Lehigh Valley’s goal is to further the existing Comprehensive Plan… The Lehigh Valley 2030 by adding a regional sustainability plan.  RenewLV is working on regional crime fighting efforts, both in the Slate Belt through a regional police force and through the Regional Crime Data Center.  RenewLV is also monitoring the potential lease of Allentown’s water and wastewater systems, given the organization’s history of advocating for public control and regionalization of such services.

RenewLV is extremely grateful to the PPL Corporation for its contribution, which will help to create and sustain the strong communities in our region.  2013 promises to be a busy, yet positive and fruitful year for Renew Lehigh Valley.  To learn more about Renew Lehigh Valley and its initiatives, visit www.renewlv.org.
