Recent Bethlehem Catholic Graduate Student Wins Top Prize in Scholarship Competition

The 2nd Annual RAISE YOUR VOICE High School Vocal Scholarship Competition crowned its winners on Friday, June 7, 2013.

Senior from Bethlehem Catholic High School, Marissa Brewer, was crowned the senior champion after singing 'I'd Give My Life For You' from Miss Saigon. The junior champion is Paige Haring from Parkland High School.

The judges, Stan Dunn, Andrea Kramer, and Doug Shapiro, are all professionals in the entertainment industry.  More importantly, they are not from the Lehigh Valley or anywhere else in PA.  The competition presented by Star of the Day Event Productions, is in its second year.  Star of the Day recruits judges from out of town and in the professional world of acting, music, and dance in order to keep the competition fair and impartial. The judges score each contestant based on ten categories.  In order to secure the top prize, Ms. Brewer had to face fellow senior Alan Mendez in a sing-off requested by the judges after the two contestants tied.  After careful deliberation, Ms. Brewer received the top prize.  She received a $250 cash scholarship plus more than $500 in other cash & prizes.
